The Battle of Okinawa was Japan and the USA last battle for islands in the Pacific battlefield, strategic judgment in the war was the key to influence the outcome of the war.The thesis describes Japan and the USA pre-war preparation, strategic measures and its influencing factors through three parts. The first part respecitively descibes the pre-war strategy plans of Japan and the United States. From the perspective of American's attitude toward Japan, the thesis reveals that America is determined to invade Okinawa, and clarifies Japan's specific plans for the battle of Okinawa in response to the United States. In the second part, the thesis analyzes the evolution process of the strategies between Japan and America in detail.Firstly,it analyzes the operation of "Iceberg".In order to ensure the victory of the war,America gathers up hundreds of thousands of forces and resources and carries out a large-scale bombing to destroy Japan's economy and deter its morale.Secondly, the thesis analyzes Japan's the operation of "Ten-Go" and "Ketu".Japanese army decides to implement operation of "Iceberg" and the operation of "Kikusui" after repeated discussion to deal with the American "Iceberg".After the failure of,Japanese makes the plan to combat America in homeland, which is called the operation of "Ketu".However, due to various factors,"Ketu" is failed to be put into practice. The third part expounds the influencing factors of Okinawa war.Politically, the emperor of Japan who has the supreme military command decides whether to continue the war and how to continue;the garrison makes military adjustment to deal with the current political situation, and it becomes a vital strategic command during the battle of Okinawa.Economically, the Japanese economy gradually declines, and America steps up its economic blockade and the occupied territories rises up to revolt. Therefore,Japan is in a shortage of strategic supplies. What's more, the huge economic gap when compared with the United States makes the war be doomed to end in a not long time. Finally in foreign policy,on the one hand,Japan makes no progress in the diplomacy with China. On the other hand, the Soviet union stops the contract and refuses to mediate the war between America and Japan, which bring Japan an unprecedented diplomatic predicament. When analyze Japan's military strategies,we must contact the policy and strategy of the United States.By contrast,Japan not only lags behind the United States seriously in terms of economy and its weapon and equipment are not as elite as the United States, but also has no strategic military advantage. Thus,Japan inevitably fails in the war.
