The Value Of Cloud In Turner’s Works

Turner was one of the well-known landscape painters in the nineteenth century.After reviewing his background and paintings,he found that Turner was particularly fond of clouds.Various clouds are presented in his works,and they occupy a large space in the picture.Therefore,it is more certain that the cloud is one of the key elements in his paintings.This article reinterprets the cloud element in Turner’s works based on the background of the new era.First of all,the author briefly elaborates on the background of Turner’s time,and analyzes the influence of this era on Turner’s paintings in depth,which helps to understand the artist in depth.Secondly,he takes Turner’s representative works as the research object,analyzes the clouds in his works,and feels the poetic,mysterious and religious nature of the clouds in his paintings.Analyzing the expression of clouds in Turner’s paintings again and analyzing the meaning of clouds in the theme of the painting is more conducive to the author’s integration of cloud elements into the painting creation.It is not difficult to find that giving clouds a sense of atmosphere can be created by the ultimate expression technique,which can metaphor the deep meaning that the painter wants to express.The author also personally feels that the expression of clouds in Turner’s paintings includes a variety of painting techniques,such as multi-layer painting and contrasting thin and thick textures.It is these different expressions that make the cloud show a sense of haziness and metaphor.More reasonable.Finally,the significance of the study of clouds in Turner’s paintings is that the author realizes that clouds,as an important part of nature,are not only the "forecasters" of different weather,but also a part of the creator’s source of inspiration.This not only improves my own understanding of clouds,but also integrates the poetic,dramatic and metaphorical use of Turner’s clouds with the author’s graduation creations,and broadens my thinking in future oil painting creations.I sincerely hope that the symbol and expression of cloud can be deeply explored by more painters,and jointly promote the continuous development of the field of cloud creation.
