Melancolia I is a work created in 1514 by the artist Albrecht Dürer.In this small painting,it expresses Dürer’s recognition ofhis identity as an artist,in the era when painters were still craftsmen.The elements contained in Melancolia I are complicated,and ‘Montage’ is derived from a single word with the summary of film production experience,deriving different types of Montage.It also provides us with the theoretical basis for today’s application of Montage in print art and other art fields.Dürer’s rich knowledge provides himself with a unique way ofthinking in his creation.The arrangement of the scenes and the design ofthe content coincide with Montage techniques.In this article,the author analyses the work with metaphor Montage,reflection Montage,and juggling Montage.Through comparison and research,it is found that there are a lot ofmetaphors,symbols,and reflections in the elements,and we can roughly classify the elements in the work as‘melancholic’ And ‘La Liberalaj Artoj’(Liberal Arts).The seemingly harmonious and unified picture in Melancolia I actually has collaged various elements.Such a rich Montage thinking being found in such a traditional print,it can be seen using Montage to interpret the paintings can provide us with a new way of thinking.The engraving series "Thorns" created by the author is made by screen printing.The screen is composed of characters,scenes and ‘mountain’ elements.The content design is applied with the Montage thinking method.Through the study of Montage application in Melancolia I,leveraging on the excellent artistic creation experience,it also provides the author with a lot of inspiration during the creation process and expands the creation ofnew ideas.
