The relation between“Art and Science”is an important subject in the research field of art history all along,the distinction started since the French Revolution in the late 18^th century.During The High Renaissance,there is no formal division between art,technology and science.It is in such unique context,Albrecht Dürer created two art theories—“Vier Bücher von menschlicher Proportion”and“Underweysung der Messung mit dem Zirkel und Richtscheyt”.It had always been considered as the important arts techniques theory.In the book,not only the human body proportion,measurement methods were introduced in details for the arts techniques learners,but also mathematic principles and skill principles were further explored,and art skills,science knowledge and art aesthetics were associated together.Pursuing of reality and beauty of art has been the dual core of Durer's art career,he re-examined the relations between human,nature and art in the view of mathematics,explored repeatedly the expression of realness and beauty,and put his thoughts into detailed paintings and it was taught to painters in Germany.Durer's art theory laid the foundation of knowledge for painters in the north of the Alps,granted them the power to grasp the natural realness and artistic beauty and made art become liberal subject the first time in Northern Europe.Because of its rich content and unique vitality,Underweysung der Messung mit dem Zirkel und Richtscheyt and Vier Bücher von menschlicher Proportion were classified into historiography.The article exactly proceeds with his two art theories and figure drawing manuscripts,interprets the contents,forms and narrative modes of art theories,explains the functions and significance of art theory,so as to comprehend Dürer's artistic style and pursuit connotation.In the discussion of Dürer's lifetime,art and art theories,we find that the content and mental images of his theories,his multiple identities and humanism together constructed a path of appreciating and understanding the Northern Renaissance.
