On Enhancement Of Translation Quality From The Perspective Of Clients

In the era of globalization,communication between countries depends on translation as a medium.The quality of translation is extremely important.However,complex document translation often consumes a lot of time and manpower,which affects the quality of translation.At present,there are many researches on the quality control of translation projects,but the research on the quality monitoring of translation projects from the perspective of clients is rare.In addition,because translators do not directly face clients,the degree of attention to the client needs to be improved.Based on translation experience of several major projects,and after many in-depth discussions with team members,the author had a deep understanding of translation quality from the perspective of clients,and thus wrote this report as a phased summary.This report takes three types of document translation(literary,non-literary and document translation)as the research object,starting from the source of the translation project(ie: clients),focusing on client communication,pre-translation preparation,translation management and post-translation management.The author found focusing on different steps and taking individual measure in four processes are helpful to meet clients’ demands.In long literary texts,terminology extraction and schedule establishment in pre-translation management,as well as online collaborative translation are crucial measures to enhance clients’ satisfaction.In non-literary texts,the emphasis should be placed on term base and parallel text,and the author recommends to use Trados and X-bench software for ensuring beautiful export formats and clients’ quality needs.In personal documents,the author thinks they can be made up of only three processes without the pre-translation management,and the most important key points are templates collection,review and check target texts.Meanwhile,this report also studies the use of computer-aided translation tools in translation and some means of project management.It focuses on the application of time control,quality control and related corpora and tools,focusing on the problems encountered in the translation process.
