A Report On The Translation Of The Jewish Hollywood(Excerpt) Under The Guidance Of Hermeneutic Translation Theory

Based on the Chinese translation of The Jewish Hollywood,this translation practice report explores and studies the translation methods of biographical texts under the guidance of hermeneutic translation theory.Under the guidance of the four-step translation of the hermeneutic translation theory,George Steiner,this translation practice was carried out.The four-step of George Steiner’s translation theory includes trust,aggression,incorporation,and compensation.He believes that the translator,as a reader of the original text,needs to explain the original text in four steps during the translation process,so as to better reproduce the meaning of the original text.When receiving the translation task,the author carefully read the original text,which tells the story of the Jewish Hollywood superstar and is fascinating.However,in the process of translation,the author found that passive sentences and attributive clauses have caused some difficulties in translation.Based on the theory of hermeneutic translation of George Steiner,the author uses the methods of conversion,restructuration,omission,addition to make the article more consistent for target readers to read.Finally,the translation was finally approved after the translation was passed to the proofreader.
