"Yourself And You Who May Die Tomorrow" By Amy Yamada (Excerpt) Translation Practice Report

This translation practice is selected from the first two chapters in Amy Yamada’s work—Yourself and You Who May Die Tomorrow(published in Gentosha in 2015),which mainly tells a story that the family experienced great grief and revived after being struck by their favorite brother’s death.In2019,Zhao Wanning published the Chinese translation of the book in China Friendship Publishing House.Alexander Fraser tattler’s three principles of translation are used to g uide translation and give readers a vivid and intuitive feeling.This translation practice report takes the first two chapters in Yoursel f and You Who May Die Tomorrow(published in Gentosha in 2015)(e xcerpt)as an example,and makes a comparative analysis with Zhao W anning’s translation from three aspects: title,vocabulary and figurative r hetoric,solve problems encountered in Translationto combine tytler’s Th ree Principles with Japanese-Chinese translation practice in novel literat ure translation.This translation practice is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which is divided into the purpose and significance of the research,and the first research at home and abroad.Chapter two is the translation process,which is divided into pre-translation and post-translation.The third chapter is an analysis of selected cases.Guided by tytler’s Three Principles,this paper makes a comparative study with Zhao Wanning’s translation from three aspects: title,vocabulary and figurative rhetoric.The fourth chapter is the summary of translation practice,which expounds the difficulties encountered during translation and the translation experience.
