This paper focuses on the concept of public "participation" in public art,the core of the main research is "public participation",and the object of study is the psychological needs of the public in the way of public art participation.Put the public needs in the first place,explore the internal relationship between psychological needs and public art participation,and how to play a good role in promoting public art creation.The main contradiction of our society has been transformed into the contradiction between the people’s growing needs for a better life and the unbalanced and inadequate development.The people’s needs for a better life reflect the requirements for higher quality,grade and level of development.In the field of public art research,General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that more elements of fine arts and artistic elements should be applied to urban and rural planning,and better serve the needs of people’s high quality of life.However,public art in China pays more attention to the research of "publicity",while the research of "interaction" and "participation" is obviously insufficient.Although the main position of the public has improved,there are still contradictions between space culture,public participation and inadequate quality of development of public works of art.And with the development of COVID-19,people no longer satisfy the basic way of participation in the public space.But more and more attention is paid to the higher-level needs brought by art interactive experience.The lack of emotional communication and interactive participation between art and the public has become increasingly prominent,which has become the main constraint in the field of public art development that can not meet the people’s growing needs for a better life.In psychological narration,people’s behavior is distributed by consciousness and has purposefulness and creativity.Public art participation,as a public participation behavior,is influenced by public psychology.Therefore,the author uses Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory to study the psychological needs of public participation in public art,mainly from the five levels of needs of public groups,to understand the actual contradictions of the lack of emotional communication and interaction between "art" and "the public",so as to improve the main constraints and solve the contradictions in the development of public art,Promote its high quality,comprehensive and balanced development.First of all,it summarizes the development process and form changes of public art at home and abroad,enumerates cases at home and abroad,analyzes the development of art and the current situation of public participation in China,so as to highlight the importance of the research on the psychological needs of the public as the main body.Then,starting from the different stages of the development of public art in China,this paper further summarizes the characteristics,types and application changes of public art participation in each stage,and expounds the specific reasons and value of the evolution of public demand.Finally,based on the consideration of the psychological needs of participation mode,through the practice of the project,Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory is used to deeply analyze the needs of the public,highlighting the relationship between space,culture and the public’s full dependence and integration in the field of public art,constructing the research model and designing the specific scheme,and truly implementing and solving the practical problems.Finally,in the direction of professional theoretical research,it provides research results with practical reference for public art creation,and tries to promote the coordinated development of China’s public art in the establishment of public relations and the embodiment of artistic value.
