This report has conducted interpretation practice on two documentaries, respectively: Overdose: The Next Financial Crisis and The Economic Crisis in 2008.The former tells a story about facing global financial bubble that the U.S.government’s solution was to cut interest rates and put a number of trillions of dollars into the problematic banking system. The latter sums up the financial crisis from four aspects: the concept, stages of crisis, reasons and results of the economic crisis. In this practice, the interpreter mainly applies the relevance theory to solve the difficulties in the interpretation. The interpreter holds that the relevance theory can guide the interpretation effectively.Relevance theory is regarded as the process of two-round ostensive references, finally achieving the optimal relevance.Under the guidance of the Relevance Theory, the interpreter elaborates six interpreting strategies:elimination, prediction, amplification, omission, adjustment and fuzziness and then summarizes the practice, finding the shortcomings and the solutions.
