Vocabulary is the “foundation” of English learning.It is one of the most important parts in English teaching and learning.However,the Regularly-used Teaching Mode is limited in improving students’ English vocabulary learning.With the exploration of teaching modes,Multimodal Teaching Mode emerges.This teaching mode advocates using colors,fonts,animations,pictures,sounds,videos,gestures,entity,and body language to present different patterns of information.The purpose of this thesis is to improve students’ English vocabulary achievements and their attitude toward English vocabulary learning through applying the Multimodal Teaching Mode into English vocabulary teaching in junior high school.The author carried out the sixteen-week experiment in Yong Deng N0.8 Junior High school.And the author randomly chose two classes,which applied different teaching modes.Multimodal Teaching Mode was used in Experimental Class,while Regularly-used Teaching Mode was applied in Control Class.The author explored the effects of Multimodal Teaching Mode on junior high school students’ English vocabulary learning through the following research questions:1.What is the effect of Multimodal Teaching Mode on English vocabulary achievements in junior high school students?2.What effects can Multimodal Teaching Mode bring to students’ attitude toward English vocabulary learning?During the study,the pre-test and post-test were used to answer the first question,and the questionnaire was used to answer the second question.The results show that Multimodal Teaching Mode can improve students’ English vocabulary achievements;Multimodal Teaching Mode has a positive impact on students’ attitude toward English vocabulary learning.Therefore,the author can draw a conclusion that Multimodal Teaching Mode contributes to students’ English vocabulary learning,at the same time it also gives many practical suggestions to teachers.
