Owing to the rapid development of computer and Internet, artificial intelligence has entered the public’s consciousness. It profoundly influences the life of people and plays an irreplaceable role in the social life. However, for the concerns about artificial intelligence, the foreigners are earlier than Chinese. So the translator chooses “Visual Mental Imagery: A View from Artificial Intelligence” from Cortex in August 2018 to translate, which aims to provide the latest information for the Chinese public and to make them know more about the field of artificial intelligence. The author hopes this report can provide references for the field of artificial intelligence, especially in visual mental imagery.Firstly, this translation report introduces the characteristics and significance of computer science texts, and then describes the translation process, including preparation before translation: the collection of background information, establishment of terminology, learning of parallel texts, etc.,and translation process: analysis of source texts, theoretical exploration and reflection, followed by case analysis.Under the guidance of functional equivalence, the author briefly analyzes the characteristics of English for Science and Technology(EST)in terms of vocabulary, syntax and discourse. This paper discusses the translation problems of the long and difficult sentences and discourses in EST.The final conclusion explains the translation puzzles and the experience the translator has gained.
