Study On Folklore In Legendary Novels Of Tang Dynasty

Folklore,as a kind of custom produced and existing among the people,is often closely related to the politics,economy and culture of an era,and the changes of people’s ideology and social life and production mode also depend on the embodiment of folklore culture.The folk cultural factors permeated in Tang legends are of great significance for studying the folk culture of the Tang Dynasty,prying into the social spiritual civilization of the Tang Dynasty,and understanding the national character of the Tang people.In addition,as the product of development of social spiritual civilization,the interaction between folk customs and literature provides a model worthy of reference for literary creation to some extent.The description of folk customs in the Tang legend played an important role in enriching the themes of the novel,shaping the characters,constructing the plot,and expressing the author’s creative intentions.Scholars have paid more attention to the research on the folklore that appeared in the legend of Tang,while paid less attention to the specific appearance and characteristics of the folklore description in the legend of the Tang,and the relationship between the folklore and the construction of the legend of the Tang.Hence,based on folklore that appeared in the legend of the Tang as the research object,this article tries to analyze and discuss the true face of the folklore description in the legends of the Tang Dynasty through combing the various folklore appearing in the works.Besides,the festival folklore,wedding customs,and belief folklore that are more widely described in the legends of the Tang Dynasty were selected.The methods of comparative analysis,mutual verification of literature and history,and close reading of texts were applied to conduct research on the manifestations,characteristics and significance of such folklore in Tang legends,which are mainly divided into four aspects:Firstly,by combing the overall appearance of festival folk customs,wedding customs,and belief folk customs in Tang legends,this article made a comprehensive analysis of the descriptions of folk customs in Tang legends,combining with the historical development process of folk customs to explore the influence of folk customs on the original appearance of folk customs.The performance of the characteristics of the folklore era is used to analyze the role of folklore descriptions in the Tang legend in enriching the cultural value of the novel;secondly,from the perspective of the folklore description in the Tang legends,this article analyzed literary functions in terms of the role of folklore in constructing the characters,plots,and the novel background and;thirdly,by comparing the historical and era characteristics of folk custom patterns with the folk custom description patterns in Tang legends,this article continued to examine the author’s creative intentions conveyed by the folk custom descriptions in the novels,and explore the folk custom descriptions in Tang legends Contains the social and cultural background;fourthly,based on the original appearance and connotation of the folklore that appeared in the legend of Tang,this article analyzed the way that the folklore description in the legend of the Tang has transformed and reconstructed the folklore phenomenon and folklore culture,and explore the combination of folklore,the fiction and reality of the novel,and the value and significance of the interactive paradigm.
