Research On Ethical Issues Based On Intelligent Weapons

Artificial intelligence is a kind of cross technology in various fields,which is bred by computer,mechanical engineering,electronic engineering and automatic control technology.After decades of development,artificial intelligence technology has had a wide and far-reaching impact on people’s production and life.Intelligent weapon is an important application of artificial intelligence technology.Its research and development,to a certain extent,improves the combat effectiveness of the army and reduces the casualties of soldiers,but at the same time,with the continuous improvement of weapon intelligence,its ethical problems are gradually highlighted.Intelligent weapons belong to the category of interdisciplinary,and the problems are more complex.Only from a single point of view is not enough,how to fully understand and solve these problems is particularly important.This paper will analyze the problems faced by intelligent weapons from the perspectives of morality,technology and regulation,and on this basis,find out the causes of these problems and find solutions.The article is divided into six parts: the first chapter explains the basis and significance of intelligent weapons topic selection,domestic and foreign research status,research ideas,research methods and innovation points;the second chapter outlines the definition,characteristics,classification and current situation of intelligent weapons and forecasts its development trend.Referring to the definition of intelligent weapons by Robert sparrow,this paper defines it as: Based on artificial intelligence technology,the level of intelligence will be upgraded from low to high,and finally reach a dynamic weapon system that can make independent decisions without human intervention.It is emphasized that intelligent weapon is a dynamic system which is constantly improved and developed.The third chapter mainly discusses four ethical problems faced by intelligent weapons.The first is the problem of moral subject.Whether intelligent weapons can become moral subject is the focus of discussion.First,the concept of moral subject is defined.Secondly,the conditions for becoming moral subject are analyzed from the perspective of philosophy of mind.Finally,the conclusion that intelligent weapons can not become moral subject is drawn.The second is the problem of moral judgment.According to the minimum standard of moral decision-making,"relationship",making moral decision requires dynamic relationship,so as to draw the conclusion that intelligent weapons cannot make moral decision.The third is the responsibility problem.Because intelligent weapons can not become the moral subject,the responsibility will ultimately fall on people.The article thinks that there will be no responsibility gap,but there will be the problem of responsibility dilution and responsibility transfer.The fourth is the problem of ethical embeddedness.It analyzes the necessity of ethical embeddedness,and explains that the existing ethical embeddedness has three modes: top-down,bottom-up and hybrid.The main defects of the modes are: theoretical conflict,failure to form rigid constraints and integration difficulties;the fourth chapter analyzes the causes of ethical problems.The reason for the problem of moral subject and moral decision-making is the imbalance between human and machine.The root cause of the responsibility problem is the lack of responsibility consciousness from the state to the scientists and the operators.There are three reasons for the Embeddedness: the limitation of technology itself,the relativity of morality and the anomie of ethical regulation.The fifth chapter puts forward the specific countermeasures to solve the above ethical problems: balancing the relationship between people and machines;strengthening the cultivation of responsibility consciousness from the state,scientific groups to operators;building an executable ethical mechanism in technology,strengthening cultural exchanges between countries and accelerating the construction of ethical system.The conclusion is that the development of intelligent weapons is a historical trend,which can be partially justified in ethics.It is not wise to ban the development of intelligent weapons in an all-round way.In the research and development of intelligent weapons,we should maintain a prudent and rational attitude,standardize the development process,integrate ethical considerations,strengthen legal regulations,and believe that the development of intelligent weapons will better serve human beings.
