As one of the greatest writers in the 20 th century,Ba Jin’s novel achievements are particularly remarkable."Cold Night" as the last novel of Ba Jin’s creation,its creative skills can be said to have reached the point of perfection.This paper takes Ba Jin’s novel Cold Night as the research object,uses the corpus research method,summarizes and induces the language characteristic of Ba Jin’s works,combines the quantitative and the qualitative,analyzes the reason behind the language accumulation characteristic.Ba Jin’s research is more," Cold Night " also has the research which focuses on the literature angle;the corpus application domain is very wide,but has not seen to use the corpus to carry on the text detailed reading to " Cold Night " for the time being,therefore this paper uses the corpus tool to carry on the text language analysis to " Cold Night ".The main contents of this paper are as follows:The first chapter firstly introduces the construction of corpus,and explains in detail the selection,transliteration,noise reduction and word segmentation of corpus,and explains the concrete steps of corpus construction.In addition,this chapter also introduces the software functions used in the next research one by one.Includes the key words,word collocation,index,index positioning and file viewing in Ant Conc and Word Smith software,and expounds the functions of these functions in text analysis.The second chapter mainly makes a quantitative analysis of two novels,Cold Night and Resting Garden,from the overall characteristics of vocabulary.The language features involved in lexical research include standard class symbol/form symbol ratio,vocabulary density,high-frequency words,theme words,etc.,from which we can find that Cold Night is richer in vocabulary and more difficult to read than Diverse Garden;By analyzing some nouns and adjectives with obvious differences in the thesaurus of the two novels,this paper explains the theme and development trend of the storyline of the two novels respectively.The third chapter studies the contextual distribution characteristics of color words in two novels from the perspective of color words.Firstly,the color words in the two novels are counted,and it is found that the black color words and the red color words account for a relatively high proportion in Cold Night and Resting Garden.Secondly,by analyzing the meaning and color gamut of these two kinds of color words,it is found that the use of black color words in Cold Night mainly appears in the scene description of the main characters,which creates a dark and depressing atmosphere for the novel environment.Judging from the usage of red color words,the main coloring object of red color words in Cold Night is the face,and most of them are used to express the negative emotions and bad physiological conditions of characters.It explains the gloomy and depressing writing tone of the novel Cold Night.The fourth chapter starts with the general syntactic features,involving the average sentence length and the average sentence capacity.From the average sentence length,it can be seen that "Cold Night" is slightly higher than "Resting Garden",and the stability of sentence length change is slightly lower than "Resting Garden";In terms of average sentence capacity,the sentence capacity distribution of "Qiyuan" is more balanced than that of "Cold Night",and the sentence capacity of "Cold Night" is different,and its stability is slightly lower.This study takes Ba Jin’s works in the 1930 s and 1940 s as the research object,compares the language characteristics of "Cold Night" and "Qiyuan",analyzes the similarities and differences in the language characteristics of the two novels,and provides some ideas for the study of modern Chinese history reference.
