In recent years,the deepening trend of globalization promotes the development of international trade.In order to promote the export of products,the translation of brochures has become an important part of the expansion of the market for multinational enterprises.Based on the English-Chinese translation project of Ford Pickup’s brochure,this translation report consists of four chapters.Firstly,it introduces the background and reviews the whole process of the project;then,the lexical and syntactical characteristics of the text as well as the corresponding translation strategies are analyzed via examples.The translation difficulties discussed in this report mainly fall into two categories: one is professionality,including translation of technical terminology,sentences in passive voice,and compound sentences;the other is promotionality,including translation of modifiers,imperative sentences,slogans,and parallelism.Among them,the strategies of translation at the lexical level are listed as follows: free translation,zero translation and mixed translation;and the strategies of translation at the syntactical level mainly comprise linear translation,reverse translation,splitting translation and so on.It is hoped that this report can provide some reference for the translation of similar texts.
