Chengzhongmengxuetang Zike Tushuo was a set of literacy textbook in the form of dictionary compiled by Liu Shuping in 1901.Hu Shi,Lu Xun and other famous men in our country were all enlightened by this book.It was called “the first Chinese book in a century”.The book was arranged on the basis of characters and meaning.It adhered to the principle of "all worldly common" and contained 3291 new words.The new words were annotated and explained under the initial in the textbook,which was the same as the layout mode of traditional dictionaries.Therefore,many scholars believe that the book was not only a professional literacy textbook for children,but also a literacy dictionary specially designed for children.It has great research value.The phonetic notation and paraphrase of the book was divided into two parts: “simple explanation” and “detailed explanation”.“Simple explanation”met the learning needs of children under 10 years old.“Detailed explanation” provided help for children over 10 years old.No matter “simple explanation” or "detailed explanation",the contents of the book were strongly advanced in the times.This paper focuses on the words of the phonetic notation and paraphrase of “simple explanation” and “detailed explanation”.It analyzes the Chinese characters used in the textbook to explore the characteristics of these words and the textbook’ s enlightenment significance to the arrangement of learning dictionary for contemporary children.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the paper is divided into the following parts introduction:First chapter: This part mainly discusses the words used of the phonetic in this book.It includes the introduction of the frequency,types and characteristics of the phonetic words used in the textbook.It is found that there is a similar rule in the use of phonetic characters in“simple explanation” and “detailed explanation”.That is that the more frequency,the greater difference in the number of phonetic characters.It also compares the phonetic characters used in the “simple explanation” and “detailed explanation”.Finally,it analyzes and explains some problems in phonetic notation of Chengzhongmengxuetang Zike TushuoSecond chapter: The part makes a deep research on the words used in the explanation of the “simple explanation” and “detailed explanation”,including the frequency,types and characteristics of the words.The rule of the frequency of words used in explanation is similar to that in phonetic notation.It also compares the explanation words used in“simple explanation” and “detailed explanation” with words included in the textbook,and discusses the differences between them.Finally,this paper introduces the comparison of words used in“simple explanation” and “detailed explanation”.It makes a analysis of the common words and different words used between them and compare them with General standard Chinese character list to explain the characteristics.Third chapter: This part compares all the phonetic characters in the textbook with General standard Chinese character list,and reveals the characteristics of the textbook that it is difficult for contemporary children to read.Through the study of teaching materials,it analyzes the value and enlightenment of Chengzhongmengxuetang Zike Tushuo for children’s learning dictionary compilation in three aspects: interpretation mode,quantitative use of words and standard variant characters.The innovation of this paper: Based on the lexicography and philology theory,this paper studies the words used in the phonetic notation and interpretation of Chengzhongmengxuetang Zike Tushuo.It’s to explore the book’s characteristics in phonetic notation and interpretation of characters,and make enlightenment for contemporary learning dictionary compilation.
