This is a translation report of “Light of My life”: Love,Time and Memory in Nabokov’s Lolita. The original authors James D.Hardy Jr.and Ann Martin joined hands to delve into the psychological and social roots of the protagonist’s pedophilia in Lolita. The birth of this text also announced the addition of a parallel text to Lolita.Texts are intertexted, and it is of great significance to study Nabokov’s Lolita. The paper adopts theoretical elaboration and case analysis as the research methods, and translation practice is guided by the theory of intertextuality.Through translation practice, the intertextuality relationship between Chinese and English culture is explored, and a variety of translation compensation methods is used to obtain the equivalence. This translation report consists of four parts. The introduction mainly talks about the reasons why the author chooses the text and the background of the work;Chapter One is translation process, intertextuality theory is finalized as a guiding theory for translation practice, and proofreading is applied to improve the quality of the translation;Chapter Two is intertextuality and translation, which mainly introduces the development of intertextuality theory and the guiding role of it in translation practice;Chapter Three is case study, and the author makes an analysis of intratextualism and extratextualism, and compensates the intertextural contents by means of foreignization, exegetic translation and etc.so as to restore the equivalence between the translation and the original text as much as possible.Through this translation report, the author believes that the translator should correctly handle the triple identities of reader, translator and creator in translating, and show the emotions that the original author wants to express to the maximum on the basis of full respect for the original text.In addition, through the original authors’ thinking on the psychology of “pedophiles”,this report also has the social significance of guiding people to establish correct values.
