Enjoy Lingnan From The Sleeves

Fan-painting is a very unique form among of Chinese traditional calligraphy and painting art.It combines the practicability of a fan and the appreciation of calligraphy and painting,thus it shows the different color in the art treasure of Chinese paintings.Painters from different periods are willing to show their brilliant inspiration on their papers,which has important guide for us to explore the development of Chinese painting history.Although the works of Ju Chao and Ju Lian(Er Ju)are not stunning but unique.They used their method called “hit the water hit the powder” to create amazing art,which provides people to see the scenery of Southern China.The fan painting of flower and bird is like a window that people can look through,shows the vitality of plants and animals in Lingnan.Er Ju’s art was an important precursor to the birth of Lingnan School painting.Their works are important reference materials for the study of modern Guangdong painting circles.At the same time,they are of great inspiration to the development and exploration of contemporary Chinese painting,especially flower-and-bird painting and fan painting.This thesis analyzes the technical and artistic characteristics of the fan paintings of flowers and birds of Er Ju based on the current situation of Er Ju’s fan paintings,combined with my own understanding and knowledge of the current research results of Er Ju’s art.The first chapter describes the history of fan painting from ornaments to elegant objects.The second one analyzes Lingnan elements from various angles in Er Ju’s works.The third chapter analyzes the artistic characteristics of Er Ju’s fan paintings of flowers and birds from the perspective of technique and content.And the fourth one discusses the artistic spirit of Er Ju’s fan painting from the perspective of painting theory.The last chapter discusses the significance of Erju fan painting to the Guangdong painting circle and its enlightenment to the development of contemporary painting in conjunction with the development of Lingnan School of Painting.Finally,I will summarize the research and analysis done in the article,and explain the author’s personal gains from this research and put forward my personal opinions on future creative guidance.
