A Study Of Frontier Literature And Art (1956-1966)

In the 1950 s and 1960 s,with the progress of ethnic identification,the continuous standardization of the research system of folklore,and the development of the New Folk Song Movement,ethnic literature received unprecedented attention.Frontier Literature and Art,a representative periodical based on ethnic literature creation in the border areas,was founded during this period.As a provincial organ publication affiliated to Yunnan Federation of Literary and Art Circles,Frontier Literature and Art has played an important role in the literary creation and development of ethnic minorities in southwest border areas.In this research,I chose the periodical text of Frontier Literature and Art from1956 to 1966 as the research object.By studying the editing and typesetting,the development process,the folklore works published in the periodical,the literary works of the writers published in the periodical,as well as the paratext including illustrations and newsletters,this paper fills the insufficiency of the study of the frontier literature periodicals,and explores the charm of the frontier literature in the Seventeen Years.The purpose of this thesis is to return to the historical scene of the early construction of ethnic literature with the help of the publication platform of Frontier Literature and Art,so as to grasp the deep relationship between Frontier Literature and Art and the development of ethnic literature and Yunnan literature during the period from 1956 to1966.The research content of this paper is mainly divided into the introduction and four chapters.The introduction sorts out the reason and significance of this topic,as well as the existing research status of literary periodicals,China ethnic literature and ethnic literature in literary periodicals,and explains the relevant theories and terms.The first chapter is the general situation and context of Frontier Literature and Art.This chapter mainly clarifies the periodical composition,development,editing situation and other important parts of Frontier Literature and Art in the period of the Seventeen Years with historical materials,and investigates the specific circumstances of the establishment and establishment of Frontier Literature and Art in combination with the context of that time.The second chapter is the collection and sort of folklore and the narrative direction.This chapter is based on the collection and collation history of ethnic folklore in the Seventeen Years,explores the adaptation of folklore in the Frontier Literature and Art during this period and the context of that time,and interprets the theme and narrative orientation of the text.The third chapter is the narrative of revolution and construction in the writer’s literature.This chapter starts with the writer’s literature in the Frontier Literature and Art,discusses the influence of the publication selection and the literary fashion of that period on the writer’s writing,and focuses on the analysis of the revolutionary theme and the socialist construction theme of the writer’s literature.The fourth chapter is the charm of frontier in literary and artistic picture.Borrowed from Genette’s concept of "paratext",this chapter explores the paratext of Frontier Literature and Art,such as pictures,dramas and readers’ letters,which is not the original text,and explores the artistic charm and connotation of the paratext of the journal.This study finds that Frontier Literature and Art promoted the collection and collation of ethnic literature during the period from 1956 to 1966,presented the literary and artistic creation status of frontier writers in this period.At the same time,literature and art of ethnic minorities also enriched the content of the original text and the paratext of the Frontier Literature and Art,showing the life style of ethnic minorities in the southwest border area of China at that time.They complement each other and jointly contribute to the development and prosperity of Yunnan’s ethnic literature and art in the period of the Seventeen Years.
