| Parental monitoring is an important environmental component to cultivate children’s socialized behavior. As an important psychological function,self-control plays a key role in suppressing impulses and achieving long-term goals.Parental monitoring and self-control are important influencing factors of adolescent deception and prosocial behavior. It is of great significance for adolescent to cultivate prosocial behavior and reduce deception.Through 2 studies, combining behavioral experimental methods and event-related potential techniques, aims to explore the effects of parental monitoring and self-control on deceptive and prosocial behaviors among adolescents and its neural mechanisms. The experiment 1a of Study 1 uses situational recall to manipulate parental monitoring with pictures of parents’ eyes.Using dots task and use of time-loss motivation to induce deception. The results showed that the parents-group responded to the decision-making decision with a longer overall response and less deception behavior than the control-group.Experiment 1b incorporates self-control dual system variables based on experiment 1a and combined with ERP techniques.Performed(group: high control-low impulse, low control-high impulse)×3(monitoring type:meaningless, father, mother)× 2(Induced condition: 20,100)repeated measurement ANOVA.Behavior results: high control-low impulse groups have fewer deceptive behaviors and respond longer when making deceptive decisions than low control-high impulse groups. The response of individuals to deceptive decisions and deceptive behaviors under father’s monitoring condition and mother’s monitoring condition is significantly less than that of meaningless monitoring. The ERP results show that: High control-low impulse group induced smaller P300,N200 amplitude than low controlhigh impulse group.P300、N200 amplitude induced by father monitoring condition and mother monitoring condition was significantly larger than meaningless condition.Study 2 a Use experiment 1a to manipulate parental monitoring.Using direct assignment to investigate the prosocial behavior of the subjects. The results showed that the parents-group had more money allocated to each other than the controlgroup.Experiment 2b based on experiment 2a,incorporates self-control dual system variables and combined with the ERP technique.Performed 2(group: high control-low impulse group, low control-high impulse group)×3(monitoring type: meaningless,father,mother)×2(amount :10,100)repeated measurement ANOVA.Behavior results:The result of the behavior was that father monitoring condition and mother monitoring condition induced the subjects to allocate more money to each other than under meaningless monitoring. There was no significant difference between the average distribution of high control-low impulse group and low control-high impulse group. The ERP results show that: The P300,N200 wave amplitude induced by mother monitoring conditions is greater than the meaningless monitoring conditions and father monitoring conditions. The wave amplitude of P300 and N200 induced by low controlhigh impulse groups was significantly higher than the high control-low impulse group. The following conclusions are drawn:(1)It is effective to manipulate parental monitoring by using recall situation recall and eye pictures of parents.(2)Parental monitoring helps to restrain individual deception behavior and promote pro-social behavior.Parental monitoring and self-control interact to promote adolescent prosocial behavior tendency.(3)Control systems of self control dual systems act more on deception decisions, and impulsive systems act more on prosocial decisions.Individuals make deception decisions by controlling, using a variety of cognitive strategies, and evaluation, monitoring and management.Individual prosocial behavior response is an automatic activation and rapid response in conflict of interest situations.(4)Greater P300,N200 amplitude when adolescents make deceptive decisions under parental monitoring. The amplitude of P300 and N200 induced by low control-high impulse group was significantly larger than that of high control-low impulse group. It provides ERP evidence for the dual system of parental supervision and self-control to affect adolescent deception and prosocial behavior. |
