This is a report on the translation of “Equal Measures 2030: a New Approach for Advocacy and Influencing Beyond Beijing +25”.The material reviews how much progress has been made on the issue of gender equality since the opening of the Fourth World Conference on Women and introduces a new tool of the Sustainable Development Goal(SDG)Gender Index.The report is composed of five chapters.Chapter 1 aims to help readers have a rough understanding of the reality of gender equality from the perspective of the project background and significance;Chapter 2 presents the main contents of the source text and analyzes its language characteristics from the lexical and syntactic levels,especially the frequent use of passive sentences and long sentences.In Chapter 3,the translator introduces Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory and discusses its feasibility as a theoretical guidance for this project.Chapter 4,the most important section of the report,primarily gives a detailed analysis of difficulties encountered in the translation process through examples,including abstract nouns,passive sentences as well as long sentences,and adopts proper solutions like conversion,sequential translation and others in order to make the target text more acceptable and readable.Chapter 5 makes a conclusion to sum up experience and inspiration she has gained through the translation project and problems to be solved.
