Dissemination And Social Change Of Rural Catholicism In The Three Borders Of Northern Shaanxi Province In Modern Times

Dingbian,Anbian and Jingbian counties are known as the "Three Borders",which are arranged from west to east with the Great Wall in the north.In the 1860 s,CICM became the designated Catholic missionary church in the Mongolian area by the Roman Ministry of Missionary,and began to spread its mission to the surrounding area.After "The Missionary Cases Of The Three Borders" happened,the church’s privileges were expanded.In order to gain more interests and consolidate its privileged position,the churches in the Three Borders took various measures to exert influence on this region for decades.In October 1945,the Communist Party formally took control of Anbian,bordering the core area of the churches in the Three Borders.The following year,the liquidation of the land occupied by the churches in the Three Borders began,and the privileges of the churches in the Three Borders were revoked.This paper is divided into four parts.The introduction part discusses the current situation of the academic research on the churches in the Three Borders region,and explains the research methods and innovative points of this paper.The first part of the text introduces the origin of the CICM and the background of its missionary work in Mongolia,and discusses the process of Catholic spreading in the Three Borders region during the period from the 1860 s to the early 20 th century.After the Catholic Church established the mission station here,it took advantage of the privilege to extolle and collect excessively,which finally aroused the public indignation and led to the occurrence of the church case.The Three Borders lesson plan is,in fact,with the support of Mongolia noble gentry and local officials,the force against the parties teaching combined a violent movement,but in front of the Catholic church has the support of the international forces,Mongolian aristocrats and The Three Borders district officials can only compromise,the emergence of "compensate teaching" for the development of the churches in the Three Borders provides a new opportunity.The second part of the text discusses the measures and process of the churches that acquired land and began to deepen the spread the Three Borders in the early 20 th century.With priests,nuns and churches as the media,the church attracts people into the church by means of distributing land and developing medical care.It makes use of frequent religious activities and religious education in church schools to infiltrate Catholic doctrines into all aspects of parishioners’ lives,so as to strengthen their identity and deepen the religious imprint on them.The third part of the text discusses the changes in the Three Borders rural society under the influence of the Church’s in-depth communication measures,and reveals the factors affecting the development of the churches in the Three Borders and the characteristics of its communication development.Under the influence of several decades of deepening communication measures,the churches in the Three Borders filled the power vacuum left by the collapse of the rural gentry class and clan system in the late Qing Dynasty,which changed the rural social structure in the Three Borders areas.The church took advantage of the benefits to develop its own armed forces and became a secular force that could not be ignored in the Three Borders region.Catholic faith also plays a dominant role in the belief system in rural areas.In the process of training clerics for the church and strengthening the infiltration of doctrines,missionary schools also sweep away some backward customs and habits in rural society.The long-term spread of Catholicism in the tripartite region has changed the rural society in the tripartite region.The churches in the Three Borders region have provided a relatively stable living environment for some people,saved the people in the region from disasters,and played a positive role in medical treatment,culture and education for the rural society in the the Three Borders region.But its dominant rheological filled with religious meaning of rural society,hinders the people the awakening of national consciousness,and the world history,at the time of the new-democratic revolution wave swept through,the church of the Three Borders using political asylum grab privileges and fell into the dust of history that building the theocratic weak walls collapsed,they impose deglaciation snow melt after all people thought.
