The source text in this report is excerpted from It’s Never Too Late to Sleep Train: The Low-Stress Way to High-Quality Sleep for Babies,Kids, and Parents, which is of great reference value in terms of improving sleep quality. The source text mainly talks about how to help children get a night of better sleep by relocating their bedroom and rebuilding their bedtime. In this report, the translator adopts Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence as a guiding theory, discussing its application in coping with difficulties in translating. The translator encountered many difficulties in the translation, including passive voice, adjectives, proper nouns, and terms. And the corresponding translation skills are conversion of voice, conversion of part of speech and extension, semantic transliteration, and annotation. This report consists of five parts, including a brief introduction to the report,a brief introduction to the original text,an introduction to the guiding theory, translation difficulties and translation skills, and a conclusion. At last, the translator hopes that this translation report can offer some references and help for the translation of the same type of text.
