A Contrastive Study Of Female Consciousness Between Ding Ling And Xiao Hong

Both of Ding Ling and Xiao Hong who are important female writers in the history of Chinese modern literature.They combined their rich female experience with their natural concern for female groups,and explored the liberation of Chinese modern women in the form of text creation.Based on the female experiences of Ding Ling and Xiao Hong,this paper interprets these works as the intertextual background of their works.By analyzing the female images in their works from the three dimensions of gender,family and society,it can be found that Ding Ling and Xiao Hong have different understandings and thoughts on the road of female liberation: Ding Ling thinks that fighting for gender equality through political power is the fundamental way to realize female liberation.The pursuit and emphasis on politics is not only reflected in Ding Ling’s own life choice,but also affects the female image shaping in Ding Ling’s works.However,Xiao Hong’s works focus on the gender differences and emphasize the obstacles that patriarchal culture poses to women’s development into society.This creative difference is the direct embodiment of Ding Ling and Xiao Hong’s female consciousness in text creation.It is difficult to achieve women’s liberation overnight,and the exploration of women’s liberation by Ding Ling and Xiao Hong is inevitably affected by historical limitations.However,it cannot be denied that their concern for the fate of women and their humanitarian concern for women in their works have played an important role in promoting the women’s liberation movement.The main body of the paper is divided into three parts:The first part mainly defines the relevant concepts in the feminist theory,combs out the process of the dissemination and acceptance of the theory in China,affirms the creation value of Ding Ling and Xiao Hong,and mentions the important position of their works in the history of modern Chinese female literature.The second part analyzes the female characters in their works,interprets the exploration of female liberation by Ding Ling and Xiao Hong through the analysis of the different dilemmas they encounter in the three dimensions of gender,family and society,and touches on their female consciousness.The third part mainly analyzes the reasons for the formation of Ding Ling and Xiao Hong’s female consciousness and discusses the influence of Ding Ling and Xiao Hong’s female literature creation on women’s liberation.
