This paper studies the tone of Luowu dialect of Yi language by historical comparison and experimental phonetics. We found that the tone of Luowu dia-lect has the following characteristics:1,tone splitting of Luowu dialect is affect-ed by aspiration. The *tone of the Proto-Ngwi corresponds to different tones of Luowu dialect under different *consonant types. When the consonant is *Qi-ng(清)and *Zhuo(浊),the tone corresponds to a low pitch; When the conson ant is *prefix, the tone corresponds to a high pitch. In Luowu dialect, the *Qi ng(清)of the Proto-Ngwi generally correspond to unaspirated obstructs. In the Proto-Ngwi,the consonants with *prefix generally correspond to aspirated obstr uc-ts in Luowu dialect. It is inferred that the consonant in the Proto-Ngwi is *Qing(清),and the tone is reduced by the influence of the present consonant, which is merged into the tone of the *Zhuo(浊).2,there are tense vowels in Lu-owu dialect, generally speaking, the tone of tense vowels is higher than tha t oflax vowels, but in 55 tone, tense is lower than lax.The 55 tone of the el derly pronunciation is flat, and the middle-aged pronunciation is down, which may be a phenomenon of tone evolution in Luowu dialect. The article consists of five parts:1.Introduction.The main content is to review the research of the Yi langua ge,and explain the significance of this paper.2.Luowu dialect sound system. This paper describes the phonological syste m of Luowu dialect and makes a brief comparison between Luowu dialect and Wuding nasu dialect.3.The tonal evolution of Luowu dialect. This chapter compares Luowu diale-ct with Proto-Ngwi and finds out the evolution law of Luowu dialect tone.4.An experimental study on the tone of Luowu dialect. This chapter describ e the tonal acoustic characteristics of luowu dialect.5.Conclusion.Summarizes the value and significance of this study.
