In the late Tang and early Song dynasties,"no writing" gradually weakened in theory and practice, and the "crazy Zen",which denounced scripture and despised language and words, hit the lifeblood of mind-nature enlightenment. At the beginning of the Song Dynasty, the social and cultural evolution, the trend of "emphasis on literature" became prominent, the writing of Zen monks and meditation on Zen of scholars prevailed, and the "crazy Zen" that forbade verbal research was incompatible with the trend of essay writing. In this context,Juefan Huihong bluntly pointed out the drawbacks of the Zen forest’s contempt for literature and classics. He pointed out that "the language of the Buddha is based on the heart" and stressed that "the heart and language are corresponding".He believed that "there is no need to keep the famous sentences to be self-stagnation",but the scripture is "the convenient wise man" of "testimony" and "mirror mind".Juefan Huihong attaches great importance to the function of writing to enlighten zen doctrine, and his book Linjianlu is an important work that positively expounds the tension between writing and zen doctrine.Starting from Linjianlu, this paper probes deeply into the Zen thought of the text, and focuses on the problem of koan of Juefan Huihong’s Literary Zen.First of all,the historical background and personal background of the writing of Linjianlu are the basis to discuss his Zen thoughts. The writing style and religious policy of the Song Dynasty are the important thrust for the Zen forest to enter the official and civil society.Compared with the Tang and the Five Dynasties, the relationship between the writing and Zen is somewhat eased, subsequently,Huihong’s own experience has a deep influence on his text creation.Secondly,in his criticism of "not asking the the doctrine of Buddhism" in the Zen forest,Juefan Huihong put forward the hidden wisdom of Zen of "entering" and "leaving".He refined the relationship between "speech" and "heart" and eased the "separation" and "establishment" between writing and Zen.At last,Huihong combined the thoughts of the school of seeing the heart and the group of teaching through the Buddhist scriptures from the standpoint of the Zen sect, and justified the legitimacy of his literary zen.
