| Learning engagement has always been the focus of research in the field of second language acquisition.With the development of related theories and practices such as the Humanistic Theory,Positive Psychology and Affective Filter Hypothesis,more and more research interests and attentions have been attracted to foreign language enjoyment and self-efficacy have been.However,through literature review,domestic researches on the foreign language enjoyment,learning engagement and self-efficacy are relatively limited.Moreover,the researches with specific English majors as the survey subjects are even more limited.Therefore,this research selected English majors as the research subjects to explore the correlation between foreign language enjoyment,learning engagement and self-efficacy,so as to improve suggestions for promoting their learning engagement and their academic and professional development.Based on the Humanism and the Positive Psychology,this research adopted quantitative research methods to conduct a questionnaire survey of 533 English majors to answer the following questions.1.What is the overall status quo of English majors’ level of foreign language enjoyment,learning engagement and self-efficacy? 2.Are there differences in the performance of English majors in different grades in foreign language enjoyment,learning engagement and self-efficacy? 3.Is there any correlative relationship among English-major undergraduates’ FLE,LE and self-efficacy? Does the mediating effect of self-efficacy exist?The study found that the overall level of foreign language enjoyment,learning engagement and self-efficacy of English majors are at intermediate level.There are significant differences in performance of foreign language enjoyment and self-efficacy of English majors in different grades.There are also significant positive correlations among foreign language enjoyment,learning engagement and self-efficacy;and self-efficacy plays a part of the mediating role between foreign language enjoyment and learning engagement.Based on the results of the research,the students as the main body of learning must firstly fully realize that their professional learning need to continuously increase their learning engagement,treat the professional curriculum learning process with good emotions and strive to improve self-efficacy.At the same time,the teachers guide and organize learning exchange activities in the class,promote the discussion of learning methods among students to help learners exchange successful experiences and create a good learning atmosphere of mutual assistance and cooperation as well as to make learners view the world around with optimistic attitudes and shape positive psychological qualities so as to improve the quality of learning.Furthermore,the teachers as the leaders of teaching should improve the foreign language enjoyment of English majors,create positive atmospheres and encourage English majors to improve their self-efficacy,especially to pay more attention to freshmen and sophomores.In terms of curriculum,it is necessary to develop the positive English educational curriculum. |
