| This thesis is a report that explores the translation of popular science texts combined with machine translation and post-editing.The source text,with a total number of approximately 14,000 words,is selected from the first and second chapters of The Biological Mind.The book was written by Alan Jasanoff and published in 2018.Since the selected text belongs to popular science text with a high repetitive rate of technical terms,it is suitable to adopt “machine translation + post-translation editing”mode to carry out the translation practice.Therefore,the author firstly chose the computer-aided translation software SDL Trados 2019 as the post-editing platform to import the selected source text and then put the segmented sentences into the Google Translation to do the machine translation work.Next,the translation results were put back into the SDL Trados 2019 for post-editing to improve the quality of the translation.Based on this post-editing practice,the author summarized 13 types of errors,mainly including awkward expression,lack of capability in coping with polysemy,undertranslation and so on.The thesis also adopts case analysis to discuss how to deal with these errors in post-editing.It is hoped that through the analysis of the “machine translation + post-editing” mode,this thesis can provide reference for the translation practice of similar texts in the future and help translators improve the quality and efficiency of translation work. |
