Education is the foundation of everything,so is art.In recent years,with the boom,more and more students are studying abroad to learn arts,the author also had exchanged to Canada in grade 2.Experienced the different art education,I have my own thinking about contemporary art and art education in China and the West.And it’s a thoughtful question that how to face up to the differences and commonalities between Chinese and Western art,and it’s also worth every art learner and practitioner ponder.The reason for the difference between Chinese and Western art is the difference of culture and region.In the context of globalization,the two art systems have exchanged in music,drama,architecture,etc.,especially in fine arts,which have promoted fine arts creation,art diversification and the development of Chinese fine arts.For example,sketches,watercolor,oil painting etc.,are appeared after exchanges.Therefore,this paper takes fine arts as representative,discussed the commonalities and individuality of Chinese and Western art and art education from four points: humanistic background,commonality,individuality and self-experience.The first point is the humanistic background,which briefly introduces the differences between traditional concepts and natural environment.The second point is the commonality between art and art education,which involves the reflection of art to life,the aesthetic idea of pursuing beauty,the exchange of art and the commonness between art and art education.Thirdly,it’s the individuality of art and art education.After briefly discussing the respective beauty of art,emphatically discussed the importance of "criticism" in western art education.The fourth point is based on the author’s learning experience and artistic creation.
