Children’s literary works,as an important branch of literature,play an important role in the development of children’s psychological well-being and aesthetic taste.Therefore,the discussion on the theory and practice of children’s literature is of great theoretical significance and practical value.In recent years,the translation of children’s literature has been in a position of“double marginalization”,and its theoretical development is relatively backward and weak,that is,most of them still abide by traditional western translation theories.Moreover,there are few studies on the style of translation of children’s literature.More appropriate and local translation theories are needed to guide the translation practice of children’s literature and fill the gaps in the study about its style of translation.The emergence and development of eco-translatology,a new translation theory both at home and abroad,is rooted in China.Eco-translatology focuses on the integrity of the translation ecosystem.From the perspective of eco-translatology,it makes new descriptions and explanations to the essential processes,standards,principles and methods of translation,and translation phenomena with the narrative method of eco-translatology.Eco-translatology will also provide a new research perspective for the translation of children’s literature.James Barrie weaves bizarre fantasies and adult sighs for life in Peter Pan with a humorous and satirical way,and creates an attractive realm in the fairy tale.For this reason,Peter Pan has been adapted into stage plays,animations,movies and other works many times,which means it has been widely welcomed and supported by Chinese even world readers.This thesis selects the popular Chinese translations from Ren Rongrong and Yang Jingyuan to conduct a comparative study.Under the guidance of eco-translatology,this thesis first analyzes how the two translators adapt to their respective translational eco-environments,which provides explanations for the different selections made by the two translators in the subsequent translation process;then select typical examples from the three dimensions of language,culture,and communication.Through a detailed comparative analysis of examples,it explores the influence of translational eco-environment on the adaptive roles of translators in the two Chinese versions of Peter Pan.The study found that under the influence of the translational eco-environment,the adaptive roles of the two translators are exerted to different degrees,thus forming different translation styles.The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate the explanatory and feasibility of eco-translatology for the translation of children’s literature,and to provide a basis for the selection of foreign children’s literature works with different versions of translations,and to make up the gap in the research on the translation style of children’s literature from the perspective of eco-translatology in China,so as to provide some reference for the further research on the translation of children’s literature in China.
