A Comparative Study Of 《Lover》 And 《Everlasting Sorrow》 From The Perspective Of Feminism

The novel The Lover by the contemporary French writer Margret Duras and the novel The Song of Everlasting Sorrow by the contemporary Chinese writer Wang Anyi have a lot of value that can be compared and studied.There are not only the common female consciousnessin the literary creation of the two female writers,but also their own creative personality.Fromthe perspective of feminism,this paper attempts to analyze the women’s life growth process,the women’s survival situation in the social gender system,the women’s body writing and theplight in The Lover and The Song of Everlasting Sorrow,so as to explore the women’s consciousness in the works of the two women writers more deeply.Both Duras and Wang Anyi convey to the readers their thoughts on the existence of women’s lives and their existential dilemmas by writing about the growth and choice of women’s lives.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part of the introduction will make a brief summary of the feminist theory,Duras and Wang Anyi’s works comparison of domestic and foreign research status quo,based on which the research significance and innovation of this paper to do an elaboration.In the first chapter,I will read Wang Anyi’s The Song of Everlasting Regret and Duras’ s The Lover.Based on the feminist theory in Beauvoir’s The Second Sex,I will further analyze and outline how women are "shaped" into women step by step in their life growth.The second chapter focuses on the fertility and motherhood of women in the social gender system.In Lover and Song of Everlasting Regret,we find the two writers’ critical ideas on natural or artificial childbearing,motherhood is good or bad for women and other topics,and analyze the influencing factors that cause the difference of the two writers’ views.The third chapter starts with the writing strategies of female writers,and focuses on the female body writing and the dilemma involved in the two novels Lover and Song of Ever LASTING Sorrow.In this chapter,the author discusses the relationship between body writing and predicament,time and space in the novels of Wang Anyi and Duras,so as to have a deeper understanding of the writing strategies of the two female writers.The fifth part,as the conclusion of the thesis,summarizes the female consciousness shared by Duras and Wang Anyi in The Lover and,as well as their different views on women’s living state and the meaning of women’s life as they grew up in different civilized environments.
