Elucidation Of Body And Construction Of Gender Identity

1980s,with the body turning of western philosophy,feminism has turned its vision to the body one after another,taking the body as the main place to explore women’s subject value and discourse space.At the same time,there is a new literary style in the female writing,that is,girls’ initiation story,girls’ initiation story show the whole process of girls’ gender consciousness awakening,with a distinct body vision.Chen Danyan is known as the master of describing girls’ novels.She began to write girls’ novels in the 1980 s and has been writing for a long time since the new century.In Chen Danyan’s girls’ initiation story,there are not only the true presentation of the girl’s natural mature body,but also the body dynamics of the girl in different contexts.It’s a personal case to analyze the girl’s gender identity construction and body connection.This paper mainly supports the Western feminist theory,combined with the body theory of Merleau Ponty,Foucault and Freud,discusses the body factors of female consciousness awakening and gender identity construction in Chen Danyan’s girls’ initiation story.This paper is divided into four chapters to make an in-depth study of the issues to be discussed:The first chapter gives a detailed explanation of the theoretical resources of this paper,and traces back to the era context and personal context of the generation of body narrative in Chen Danyan’s girls’ initiation story.The "body turn" and feminist body theory of western philosophy provide abundant theoretical resources for the body narrative in literature,and the rise of domestic girls’ initiation story and Chen Danyan’s personal creation provide space for the text practice of these theories.The second chapter is from the perspective of Merleau Ponty’s body subject theory,investigate the gender identity construction of the girl body in multiple relationships.In the relationship with one’s own body,it mainly analyzes the girl’s self experiential behaviors,such as body change,touching the body,holding oneself in the mirror and so on;In the physical relationship with the same sex,the paper analyzes the influence of the mother daughter relationship on the construction of the female gender identity and the dilemma of the construction of the lesbian gender identity;In the physical relationship with the opposite sex,from the perspective of psychology,this paper analyzes the awakening of libido’s body under the guidance of the opposite sex of the same age and the dominant position of the female in the physical relationship with the older opposite sex.In the third chapter,from the perspective of Foucault’s power body theory,girls’ are placed in the main space of their growth-campus.Analyzes the body shape of girls as passive objects under the discipline of campus power and the dilemma of gender body construction.In the fourth chapter,from the perspective of Judith Butler’s body as a medium,it expounds the multiple paradigms of the construction of girls’ gender identity.This may be a kind of performance identity construction,that is,girls walk between different genders through body performance,or a androgynous body mixed with so-called "femininity" and "masculinity",or a gender identity construction through dreams at the subconscious level of the body.
