With the improvement of China’s economic strength and cultural influence on an international scale,more and more foreign students choose to learn Chinese as a second language.In the United Kingdom and the United States,some learners learn Chinese as their first foreign language.However,due to the differences in Chinese and Western cultural and historical backgrounds,as a part of speech in the Chinese system,many American international students will encounter difficulties in the learning process.For junior American students,it is more likely to have acquisition errors.This will not only affect the progress of American junior foreign students in learning Chinese,but also have a certain impact on their self-confidence in learning.Therefore,this article intends to conduct a research on the acquisition errors of quantifiers by American junior students.The research of the thesis is first based on consulting a large number of literature researches,integrating and combing the research results of relevant quantifiers,and laying the necessary theoretical foundation for the research of the thesis,and then using the corpus analysis method to collect the corpus of the global Chinese interlanguage corpus.Statistic and analyze the acquisition errors and characteristics of commonly used quantifiers by American junior students.At the same time,a questionnaire was designed to conduct a questionnaire survey of junior American students in Beijing,Shanghai,Zhejiang and other universities in the form of online surveys,so as to comprehensively and objectively understand the errors in the acquisition of quantifiers by American junior students.Then,based on the analysis of the types of errors in the acquisition of quantifiers by American junior foreign students and the analysis of their causes,this paper proposes strategies for teaching quantifiers suitable for junior American students.The thesis is divided into four parts:The first part is an overview of quantifiers.It mainly explains the classification of quantifiers,the definition of quantifiers and the grammatical characteristics of quantifiers.The second part is an investigation of the acquisition errors of quantifiers by junior students in the United States.On the one hand,based on the global Chinese intermediary corpus,it investigates the errors in the acquisition of quantifiers.On the other hand,it uses questionnaires to investigate and analyze the errors in the acquisition of Chinese quantifiers by junior foreign students in the United States.This will lay the necessary data support for the thesis research.The third part is an analysis of the types of errors in the acquisition of quantifiers by American junior students.Based on the corpus and the survey results of the questionnaire,this paper explores the types of quantifier errors by American junior students and the reasons for the problem.After the integrated survey results,it is found that the Chinese quantifier errors of American junior students can be divided into five major categories:(1)Missing Measure words;(2)Multiple measure words;(3)Wrong measure words;(4)Position error of measure words;(5)Wrong word measure words.After analyzing the reasons for the quantifier errors of American junior students,it is found that the negative transfer of mother tongue,the influence of teaching strategies,the interference of the target language,the lack of cultural knowledge,the omission of textbook compilation,the language perception problems and other factors have led to the bias in the acquisition of Chinese quantifiers.The reason for the error.The fourth part is the countermeasures for the teaching of measure words for the junior American students abroad.Combining with the problems and reasons of the errors in the acquisition of quantifiers by the junior American students,the author puts forward the countermeasures for the teaching of quantifiers by the junior American students.Firstly,strengthen the understanding of the cultural connotation and characteristics of the quantifier knowledge of foreign students;secondly,strengthen the interaction with foreign students in the teaching of quantifiers;thirdly,the comparative analysis of the quantifiers in different languages;secondly,optimize the writing and design of the quantifiers in the textbook;Measure word teaching method for elementary international students;finally,strengthen the teacher’s ability to teach measure words. |
