In order to cultivate students’ responsible consciousness of altruism,educator need to fully understand students’ values.Power distance belief is an important value,which may have a negative effect on the responsible consciousness of altruism.But the influence of this value is not fully considered in altruistic education.To solve this problem,this study examines whether power distance beliefs have a negative effect on the responsible consciousness of altruism,and whether individuals with high power distance beliefs have a lower responsible consciousness of altruism.If the research results support this hypothesis,in order to explore a method to enhance responsible consciousness of altruism of people with high power distance beliefs,we conducted a study on cooperative learning style.In order to find a way to improve the responsible consciousness of altruism of people with high power distance beliefs,This study will explore whether cooperative learning style can promote responsible consciousness of altruism of participants with high power distance beliefs,and also explore the effect of cooperative learning style on participants with low power distance beliefs.To this end,our research was divided into two parts.The first part was to examine whether power distance beliefs have negative effects on the responsible consciousness of altruism.It was divided into two studies.Study 1used questionnaire survey to investigate the relationship between power distance beliefs and the responsible consciousness of altruism.Questionnaires were distributed through the Internet,and 297 valid questionnaires were received.The results showed that power distance beliefs were negatively correlated with the responsible consciousness of altruism.Individuals with high power distance beliefs had lower the responsible consciousness of altruism,while individuals with low power distance beliefs had higher the responsible consciousness of altruism.In study 2,priming paradigm was used to investigate the causal relationship between power distance beliefs and the responsible consciousness of altruism.I recruited 110 qualified subjects through the online platform,divided them into two groups according to the month of their birthday,and activated the different power distance beliefs of the subjects through instructions.The results showed that the power distance beliefs had a negative impact on the responsible consciousness of altruism.The subjects with high power distance beliefs had lower the responsible consciousness of altruism,while the subjects with low power distance beliefs had higher responsible consciousness of altruism.The second part was to explore the influence of cooperative learning on the responsible consciousness of altruism of people with different power distance beliefs.This part was also divided into two studies.Study 3 explored the influence of different learning styles(cooperative learning and independent learning)on the responsible consciousness of altruism.In this study,a behavioral experiment was designed according to social interdependence theory.62 subjects were recruited.Each two people formed a study group.All groups were randomly assigned to the cooperative learning group or the independent learning group.The results showed that there was no significant difference in the responsible consciousness of altruism between the cooperative learning group and the independent learning group.Study 4 further explored the influence of different learning styles on the responsible consciousness of altruism.On the basis,I explored the influence of cooperative learning on the responsible consciousness of altruism of people with different power distance beliefs.120 subjects were recruited.The subjects were divided into high and low groups according to their power distance belief scores,and each pair formed a learning group.The subjects were then randomly assigned to different learning styles,which were high interdependent cooperation,low interdependent cooperation,and independent learning style.The results showed that the main effects of learning styles(high interdependence cooperation,low interdependence cooperation and independent learning)are significant.Compared with independent learning style,high interdependence cooperation significantly improved the participants’ responsible consciousness of altruism,while low interdependence cooperation had no effect.However,in high interdependence cooperation,individuals with high power distance beliefs did not significantly improve their responsible consciousness of altruism,but individuals with low power distance beliefs significantly improved their responsible consciousness of altruism.The conclusions were as follows:(1)power distance beliefs had a negative effect on the responsible consciousness of altruism.(2)High interdependence cooperation is beneficial to cultivate students’ responsible consciousness of altruism.(3)For individuals with high power distance beliefs,participation in high interdependence cooperation did not promote their responsible consciousness of altruism,but individuals with low power distance beliefs significantly improved their responsible consciousness of altruism.In the altruistic education,in order to cultivate the students’ the responsible consciousness of altruism,educator can try to introduce high interdependence cooperation into the classroom,but this learning style is only effective for individuals with low power distance beliefs,and how to cultivate the responsible consciousness of altruism of individuals with high power distance beliefs still needs to be further explored.
