A Study On The Prohibition Of Opium In Southwest Hubei During The Republic Of China

Since modern times,academic research on the history of opium ban has gradually become a hot spot,and a large number of monographs and papers have been published.However,there are very few works concerning the ban on opium in southwest Hubei during the Republic of China.Therefore,the author believes that The study of opium prohibition in southwest Hubei during the period can not only greatly enrich the content of the history of opium prohibition in modern times,but also have certain reference significance for the country’s anti-drug struggle.Based on documentary data and field survey data,this paper uses ethnology,anthropology,and history and other disciplines and research methods,hoping to evaluate and summarize the government’s ban on opium through the study of the ban on opium in southwest Hubei during the Republic of China.Experience and lessons,on the other hand,we can understand the social situation of southwest Hubei at that time from the side.Southwest Hubei is the main opium growing area in Hubei.After the opium ban campaign was launched,the local government in southwest Hubei actively implemented various opium ban policies of previous governments,targeting opium seeding,ingestion,sale,transportation,storage,shelter,and indulgence.Although the central government’s policy of banning opium from time to time,the corruption of opium officials and the economic temptation of opium,etc.have never been eliminated,opium has never been eradicated in southwestern Hubei.The author divides the full text into three parts,and narrates the content in four chapters.The first part of the article mainly narrates the proliferation and harm of opium in southwest Hubei during the Republic of China.The first chapter mainly narrates from three aspects.First,it states the background of the introduction of opium from southwest Hubei and the formation of Chinese opium smoking methods from a historical perspective;Secondly,it introduces the flood of opium in southwest Hubei during the Republic of China and its harm,and the serious consequences resulting from it,which paved the way for the effective ban on opium that began during the Republic of China.The second part is the second chapter.The opium prohibition measures in southwest Hubei during the Republic of China are mainly divided into four periods for narration,namely the ban on opium during the warlord’s melee,the ban on opium in the early days of the Nationalist government,the six-year ban on opium,and Chen Cheng’s ban on opium.This part is the focus of the article.Based on the opium ban laws and regulations promulgated by the government during the Republic of China,the author started from the aspects of opium banning,banning,banning transportation,banning sales,and banning opium.According to the policy promulgation,the establishment of opium ban institutions,Opium prohibition propaganda,opium prohibition rewards and punishments,etc.,analyze the development of opium prohibition in southwest Hubei during the Republic of China.The author hopes to show the situation of opium ban in southwest Hubei during the Republic of China as true and comprehensive as possible.The third part is the third and fourth chapters of the full text,mainly to make a comprehensive evaluation of the opium ban in southwest Hubei.The third chapter mainly discusses the obstacles encountered during the opium ban in southwestern Hubei from three aspects: politics,economy,and cultural psychology,which greatly reduced the effectiveness of the ban on opium.The fourth chapter is a comprehensive evaluation of the achievements in the process of opium banning in southwest Hubei and the many problems exposed in the process,and then a pertinent assessment of the ban on opium in southwest Hubei,and through historical analysis,combined with the current drug phenomenon,pointing out drugs The interdependence with the development of today’s politics and economy can unearth the reasons why drugs cannot be eradicated today,and has very positive practical significance for future generations in summing up history and drawing lessons from predecessors.
