The washback refers to the influence of language testing on language teaching and learning.It’s convenient for the country to “promote learning by examination”.Therefore,the educational field pays more attention to the washback for improving teaching and other aspects.A big change happened of English college entrance examination is adopting grammar blanks filling in 2014 and people pay more attention to grammar teaching and learning.So It’s necessary to explore grammar blanks filling ’s backwash.However,the existing studies on the washback are mostly from the perspective of macro English testing,but few of them combine with the researching of grammar blanks filling.Therefore,this study takes the Anderson&Wall washback hypothesis as the theoretical basis and aims to explore influences on teachers and students in terms of content,method and psychology,meanwhile,whether individuals will have an effect on the washback.In this study,the author selects 98 students and 5 teachers in a senior high school in Harbin and adopts questionnaire survey,interview and classroom observation to explore backwash on teachers and students.The author uses SPSS22.0 software to analyse data,and results show that grammar blanks filling has positive washback on teachers and negative washback on students.But the strength and nature of washback are different among individuals.Moreover,the subjective initiative of teachers and students can moderate the washback effect to a certain extent.In addition,this study combines the symbolic interaction theory,the Gestalt psychology theory and integrates the environment,teachers,students,classroom and homework factors to put forward the "whole classroom" teaching concept and use “tracing to the source teaching method” to explain the causes of grammar phenomenon.The author choose two parallel classes as research subject.The test method proves that this solution can promote the positive washback and then improves the efficiency of grammar teaching and learning in class.Finally,the author reflects on this study,summarizes the limitations and puts forward suggestions for subsequent studies.This paper studies the washback of grammar blanks filling on teaching and learning in terms of content,method,order as well as psychology and puts forward systematic suggestions for improving grammar teaching in order to provide fresh theories to the study and new ideas for grammar teaching and learning. |
