Report On The Academic English Translation Of Edinburgh Festival Fringe Overview

With the increasing academic awareness of Chinese scholars and the prosperity of academic exchanges between China and the west,academic translation emerges as the times require.In recent years,a lot of works and articles on academic translation have sprung up in China.However,the amount of academic translation research theories and achievements is still smaller in comparison with translation of popular texts and works.This translation task is not only entrusted by the author of the original,but also a good opportunity to enrich the content of academic translation practice.Therefore,this translation report is of certain practical significance.Overview of Edinburgh Festival Fringe is an overview academic paper with clear hierarchy,rigorous structure,clear content and fluent writing.The language is soft but not stiff,and the meaning is rich.Under the guidance of the theory of functional equivalence,this translation practice aims to translate the source text into English in order to present a smooth,natural and authentic text.In addition,it analyzes and summarizes the translation process in combination with cases,and finally forms a translation practice report.The practice report is composed of four parts.The first part introduces the source text,and briefly discusses the purpose and significance of this English translation practice;the second part describes the whole translation process in detail,which is divided into three parts:pre-translation,in the translation and post-translation,including source text analysis,relevant theoretical preparation,technical route and practice plan,and post translation review;the third part is case study,which analyzes the key and difficult points of translation and the flexible use of different strategies from three aspects: lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence and textual equivalence;the fourth part reviews the whole translation process,summarizes and reflects on this translation task,including the summary of several key and difficult points and reflections on the shortcomings,so as to point out the direction for the future translation studies.
