| The history of Chinese medicine encompasses the development of Chinese medicine from its origins,formation to its later stages.It is the crystallisation of the vast wisdom of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation,and has played a pivotal role in the history of China.The translator introduced the comprehensive development of Chinese medicine based on an understanding of Chinese culture,and explained the translation of terminology and treatments found in the canonical writings and achievements of various disciplines in Chinese medicine,addressing a range of problems encountered in the translation process: translation of medical names,translation of canonical writings,translation of literary texts,etc..At the same time,based on the study of this case text,the author summarises a series of methods of general significance that can be used in the translation of TCM texts,providing a broader perspective on the study of English translation of TCM texts.For the English translation of Chinese medicine,the case studies are mainly conducted using the lexical level and syntactic aspects under the guidance of Skopos theory,and the analysis of the Chinese medicine diseases and prescriptions and the pulse of TCM,combining the transliteration with annotation,the paraphrasing,the phonetic-meaning combination method and the literal translation;the English translation of the names of canonical books is dealt with by using the set translation method and the imitation method;at the syntactic level,the English translation of the names of the canonical books is conducted by splitting the phrase,supplementing the subject,and the transformation of non-predicate verbs.In the syntactic level,the translation of unattributed sentences is carried out by splitting short sentences,supplementing the subject and transforming non-verbal verbs;the translation of bamboo sentences is carried out by the method of paraphrasing,adding related words and breaking up sentences.The above translations of TCM propaganda texts combine the skills of translating literature and technology.In the process of translation to maintain national characteristics we cannot Westernise Chinese medicine,but rather find a way to bring Chinese medicine to the world. |
