After the implementation of the “universal two-child policy”,the concept of “more children, more happiness” in traditional Chinese culture has once again entered the hearts of Chinese parents, which leads to more and more families wanting to have a second child. The birth of a second child not only changes the position of first-born child from the “only child” to the “eldest child”,but also makes the distribution of family resources change dramatically. In recent years, the adaptive problem of sibling disharmony is becoming more and more common, which also attracts researchers’ attention. In the firstborns’ social relations, sibling relations and peer relations are the important peer social relations of the eldest children, and sibling relations accompany the firstborns all their lives because of their kinship and persistence. Moreover, peer relationship,as the first peer social relationship developed by the eldest children, has laid the model and foundation of their early interpersonal relationship, and is used for reference by older children in the process of sibling communication. As an important factor to measure individual mental health, the level of self-acceptance has an important influence on the peer social interaction of firstborn children.According to the ecological theory of developmental psychology, this thesis investigates the status quo of peer relationship,self-acceptance level and sibling relationship of elder children in adolescence, taking peer relationship in school as an important environmental factor and self-acceptance as an important internal psychological factor to jointly explore the influencing factors of sibling relationship of elder children. On the basis of the above conditions, this study will establish a mediation model to verify the validity of the relevant influencing factors model of sibling relationship of adolescent children. In this study,“Children and Adolescent Peer Relationship Scale”,“Self-acceptance Questionnaire”and “Sibber Relationship Questionnaire” are used as research tools.By using multi-stage sampling and intentional sampling methods, this study selects 547 senior middle school children in Hebei Province for investigation, and takes advantage of the software SPSS19.0 and AMOS24.0 for data analysis. Two senior middle school children and four senior high school children with bad sibling relationship are selected from the above samples as individual case interview objects to further explore the influence and mechanism of peer relationship and self-acceptance on individual sibling relationship.Results:1.The peer relationship of the subjects is generally good, but the degree of self-acceptance is generally low,and the sibling relationship tends to be stable on the whole.Among them, the eldest children with sibling conflict problem accounted for 22.30%.2.The relationships between siblings are significantly different in gender, school level, number of siblings, and age gap(p<0.01).In this part, girls are better than boys.In terms of fellow countrymen conflict and competition, boys are better than girls, and high school students significantly are more intimate than junior middle school students, even fellow countrymen number 2 or more is apparent more harmonious than the number of 1 in the relationship of the eldest children.3.There are significant differences in gender and sibling age interval in peer relationship(p< 0.01),and girls are better than boys on the whole.4.There are significant differences in self-acceptance in gender, school period and sibling age interval(p < 0.05).The self-acceptance dimension of male students is higher than that of female students, and the self-evaluation factor of female students is higher than that of male students.Junior high school students have significantly higher self-acceptance factors than senior high school students.5.There is a significant negative correlation between self-acceptance and sibling relationship(r =-0.309,p < 0.001).The correlation between peer relationship and self-acceptance(r = 0.472,p < 0.001)and sibling relationship(r =-0.307,p < 0.001)all reach a significant level of 0.001.As the peer relationship scale is a reverse score, the higher the score, the worse the peer relationship is.Therefore, the peer relationship of the eldest children is significantly negative correlated with self-acceptance.There is a significant positive correlation between peer relationship and sibling relationship.6.Structural equation model test shows thatλ2/df in the model is 1.685,and RMSEA value is0.035,indicating that the model is well fitted.Adolescent children’s self-acceptance plays a partially mediating(covering)role between peer relationship and sibling relationship, and the mediating effect accounts for 32.46% of the total effect.7.It is found from case interviews that the results of randomly selected case interviews all support the mediation model of this study, and parents’ attitude and concept of making friends are also important factors affecting the sibling relationship of adolescent children.Conclusions:1.In the research sample, the quality of sibling relationship of the eldest children group is stable on the whole, but there is a certain proportion of poor sibling relationship, good peer relationship and low self-acceptance level on the whole.2.The degree of sibling relationship, peer relationship and self-acceptance of firstborns is significantly affected by demography related factors.3.There is a significant negative correlation between self-acceptance and sibling relationship.Peer relationship is negatively correlated with self-acceptance and sibling relationship.4.For the eldest children in adolescence, the influence of peer relationships on sibling relationships is partly affected by the level of individual self-acceptance.Therefore,it can be seen that the development of good sibling relations for eldest children at the stage of adolescence requires the integration of internal psychological factors,self-acceptance level and external environmental factors, and peer relations.Schools and families should also focus on the individuals with poor peer social relations to help improve the social and adaptive ability of firstborn children.
