We all know,reading ability is very important for language learning,therefore,how to teach English reading well and improve students’ reading ability become hot topics among the educators.However,some teachers still use traditional method like cramming education and mechanical practices during the process of reading teaching,which lead to the low efficiency of reading.As a result,students can’t foster good reading habits or develop thinking ability.This thesis attempts to solve the following three questions:Question 1: What’s the influence of reading teaching based on the Bloom’s taxonomy of cognitive objectives on students’ use of reading strategies?Question 2: To What extent will the reading teaching based on Bloom’s taxonomy of cognitive objectives promote the development of students’ thinking ability?Question 3: To What extent will the reading teaching based on the Bloom’s taxonomy of cognitive objectives improve students’ reading achievements?Based on the above questions,in this study,a total of 80 students from two classes in Grade Eight were research subjects,the researcher conducted 18 weeks teaching experiment.Two classes in Grade Eight were selected for the experiment,including 40 students in control class and 40 students in experiment class.During the experiment,the same teacher used traditional teaching method in CC and Bloom’s taxonomy of cognitive objectives was applied to EC.Instruments applied include the test(pre-test and post-test),questionnaires and interview.Finally,SPSS 22.0 was used to analyze the data of the experiment.The results demonstrated that after a semester of experiment,the reading ability of students in EC improved significantly.In addition,the thinking ability,in EC also increased to a great extent,and the students can read with purpose and use the reading strategies more accurately.Therefore,compared with the traditional teaching method,teaching reading based on Bloom’s taxonomy of cognitive objectives exerts a positive impact on students’ reading learning,which contains the reading strategies,thinking ability and reading ability according to the results of the data analysis.It is hoped that the results of this study could provide some suggestions for the application of Bloom’s taxonomy of cognitive objectives in English reading teaching. |
