| Based on the English curriculum standards for General Senior High Schools(2017Edition),there are five fundamental abilities such as listening, speaking, reading, writing, and viewing in English language learning. As one of the main forms of language output, writing reflects the learners’ comprehensive application ability in second language learning. However, the current situation of senior high school English writing is not optimistic.Students and teachers spend less time on writing. At the same time,in accordance with the applicable necessities of English curriculum standards for General Senior High Schools(2017 Edition)and the traits of the new writing method, the traditional teaching methods can not meet the needs of teachers and students. In 2012,Professor Wang proposed the Continuation Task.It is not only a teaching method but also a writing type.It was first used in the Zhejiang College Entrance Examination in 2016.Other provinces are constantly participating in the reform. Therefore, this study attempts to apply the Continuation Task into senior high school English writing teaching. And two questions are as follows.Question 1: Can the Continuation task improve students’ critical thinking ability?Question 2: To what extent does the Continuation Task improve students’ writing ability? In this experiment,a hundred students from two parallel classes in grade one of Yuying Senior High School of Chaoyang in Liaoning Province have been chosen as the experimental subjects. It starts on September 1st,2020 and ends on December 31 st,2020lasting for sixteen weeks. The first class is an experimental class with fifty students. The teaching method of English writing is the Continuation Task. The second class is the control class with fifty students, and the traditional writing teaching method is adopted. Finally, the data results are analyzed and discussed by SPSS19.0.The results show that the students’ critical thinking ability and English writing ability have been significantly improved. Finally, based on the limitations of this study, the author puts forward suggestions and ideas for further research. |
