Abstract/Summary:
Reading is one of the main methods for people to obtain information in their daily life.English reading level is often used as a general and important standard to measure the comprehensive English ability of junior high school students.However,there are still many problems in junior high school English reading teaching,such as the single traditional model of teacher-oriented and the limited teaching time in reading class.Flipped Classroom Teaching Model breaks through the limit of time and space in the traditional classroom.The teachers may optimize the teaching process according to the target needs.They can combine the acceptance learning and inquiry learning effectively.Meanwhile,it is a great way to satisfy the personalized learning needs of students to some extent.Therefore,this study applies Flipped Classroom Teaching Model to junior middle school English reading teaching,trying to answer the following three research questions:Question 1: What effect does the application of Flipped Classroom Teaching Model have on students’ autonomous learning ability to English reading?Question 2: What effect does the application of Flipped Classroom Teaching Model have on students’ learning motivation to English reading?Question 3: To what extent does the application of Flipped Classroom Teaching Model have on students’ English reading ability ?To answer the above questions,the author conducted a four-month teaching experiment in a middle school.Experimental participants were 80 students from two parallel classes in Grade 8.Class 1(40 students)was regarded as the experimental class(EC).It adopted the Flipped Classroom Teaching Model.Class 2(40 students)was designated as the control class(CC).It adopted the traditional reading teaching model.In order to ensure the authenticity and effectiveness of the experiment,the author used questionnaire survey,test and interview as the experiment tools.The results are as follows: The Flipped Classroom Teaching Model in English reading teaching can improve students’ autonomous learning ability,stimulate students’ English reading motivation,and enhance their reading ability to a great extent.Therefore,Flipped Classroom Teaching Model has a positive effect on junior middle school reading teaching.However,due to the limitations of personal ability and objective conditions,there are still some problems that need to be further studied.It is hoped that the study of this paper will provide useful help for the related research of Flipped Classroom Teaching Model in reading teaching.
