A Research On English Writing Teaching In Junior High Schools From The Perspective Of Activity Theory

In 2014,the Ministry of Education issued “Opinions on comprehensively deepening the curriculum reform to implement the fundamental task of cultivating people with morality”,which regards core competence as an important educational goal of basic education.With the deep reform of English curriculum in recent years,writing teaching has attracted more and more attention and has become the key to cultivate students’ English core competence.However,there are still some problems in English writing teaching,which lead to students’ lacking of enthusiasm for learning and weakness in writing.In order to solve these problems,teachers should introduce the advanced teaching theories and explore more effective English writing teaching mode.Therefore,the author applies activity theory to English writing teaching in junior high school.Which tries to answer the following three questions: Can junior high school English writing teaching based on the activity theory improve students’ learning enthusiasm? Can it improve the efficiency of students’ cooperative learning? Can it improve students’ writing ability?Based on the analysis of the relevant studies of activity theory at home and abroad,this study explores the effective ways and concrete effects of applying activity theory to English writing teaching in junior high school,providing reference ideas to improve students’ English core competence.The study uses the research methods of questionnaire survey,interview and test,and constructs the English writing teaching model based on activity theory.The author chooses two classes of the eighth grade with the similar level to carry out the experiment and comparison,in which the experimental class adopts the English writing teaching model based on activity theory and the control class adopts the traditional English writing teaching method.In order to observe the specific effect of English writing teaching from the perspective of the activity theory,English writing tests were conducted on students in two classes before and after the experiment,and the author uses SPSS25.0 to analysis the statistics.The results show that English writing teaching based on activity theory can improve students’ enthusiasm for English writing learning,improve students’ cooperative learning efficiency and improve students’ English writing ability.Finally,the author puts forward constructive suggestions based on the actual situation of English teaching: exploring appropriate themes of life activities to improve students’ interest in learning,optimizing the allocation of community members to improve the efficiency of cooperative learning,paying close attention to the activity process to improve students’ writing skills,giving full play to students’ dominant position to create a strong writing atmosphere.It is hoped that it can provide reference for English teachers and English researchers.
