| English writing is an important part of English learning in junior high school.Its importance is self-evident,because it can reflect students’ comprehensive ability to use language.Students are supposed to have solid language skills to write a good composition.English writing plays an important role in student’s English learning.However,writing teaching is always a short board because of various reasons of teaching and examination.Schema theory aims to activate the learners’ existing knowledge in their minds and help them absorb and apply new knowledge.Therefore,the rational application of schema theory in the process of English teaching can fully arouse the enthusiasm of students,make it easier for students to understand the newly acquired information,and absorb it into their own schemata to produce new schemata.It will make the schemata in the mind more and richer and improve the student’s learning ability.So far,schema theory has been used in the teaching of English reading and listening comprehension,and has not been widely used in English writing teaching,especially in junior high school English writing teaching.The research methods adopted in this paper are mainly experimental research,supplemented by literature research method and questionnaire method.On the basis of studying schema theory,this paper analyzes the present situation of English writing and writing teaching in junior high school,combined with empirical research,this paper discusses the application of schema theory in junior high school English writing teaching.The most important purpose of this study is to prove that schema theory can be effectively applied to the teaching of English writing in junior high schools,thus improving students’ writing ability.Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to apply schema theory to junior high school English writing teaching to improve students’ English writing level.For this reason,the author of this article conducted an application research for 7months,the research questions are:(1)Is the teaching of English writing under the guidance of schema theory more effective in improving the English writing ability ofthe students than the traditional writing teaching?(2)After applying schema theory to the teaching of English writing in junior high school,what are the main aspects of the improvement of students’ writing ability?(3)Under the guidance of schema theory,can the improvement of the students’ writing ability improve the students’ interest in English writing? This study mainly uses the test method,at the same time,it also uses the questionnaire survey method and the literature research method.The experiment was carried out on two classes of the ninth grade of Weifang Malan Middle School.Through the pre-test,one class is determined as the experimental class and the other class as the control class.In the experiment class,the teaching of English writing is carried out by using the schema theory,and the traditional writing teaching method is still used for the control class.The experimental results are analyzed statistically and combined with the questionnaire results of the students,and the following conclusions are drawn: The application of schema theory in junior middle school English writing teaching can improve students’ English writing level more than the traditional English writing teaching method.There is a significant difference between the data of writing scores after pre-test and post-test,that is,the writing performance of the students in the experimental class has been greatly improved.The application of schema theory in English writing teaching in junior middle school can help students use correct writing strategies,enrich the structural schema and content schema in students’ minds,and make students strengthen their perceptual ability to discourse knowledge.That is to say,the language use of students’ composition is more accurate,the text structure is more reasonable,and the content is more relevant.Schema theory writing teaching follows the psychological cognitive process of students.It can help students overcome their fear of English writing and improve their interest in English writing.Therefore,schema theory can be effectively applied to junior high school English writing teaching and improve students’ writing ability. |
