| In English learning,reading is one of the most basic skills,and the junior high school students must master some of the reading skills.However,due to the need of the junior high school entrance examination,most of the schools still focus on the traditional teacher-centered teaching model and English teaching can not meet the actual requirements.And all of these lead to the low English reading efficiency of students.The Jigsaw reading model is one of the effective learning forms of CL.In this model,students are divided into heterogeneous home groups and expert groups,and they can complete tasks in cooperation.In this way,it not only arouses students English reading interests,but also successfully establish a harmonious learning atmosphere.On the basis of previous studies,this study attempts to apply the Jigsaw reading model to the English reading class in junior high school.The study lasts for the 10 weeks,the research subjects are the students in the No.66 Junior High School in Urumqi.The implementation of teaching experiment is started in September 2018.Class 18 Grade 8 is the experimental class and Class 17 Grade 8 is controlled class,which use Jigsaw reading model and Bottom-up reading model respectively.During the experiment,both of the classes use the English text book "GO For It" for eighth grade,which from the people’s publishing house.During the experiment,the two classes have the same class hours and the same teaching teachers.The pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire,pre-test and post-test and interview are used as the research instruments,and the data in experiment is analyzed by SPSS19.0.Through the data analysis,the research results are as follows:The results show that the Jigsaw English reading model is helpful in students’ reading comprehension.It can make the students more active in communication and cooperation.Moreover,the Jigsaw reading model would increase students’ interest in English reading,and also improve their cooperative learning abilities.In Jigsaw reading class,students feel a sense of confident in English reading,so as to improve students’ English achievements.However,this study also has some limitations.Due to the short time of the experiment and the small number of subjects,the research results are not convincing enough. |
