| This translation practice report is mainly based on the Australian writer Kate Morton’s The Clockmaker’s Daughter.It is an intriguing and literary book inspired by art which deals with poetry,geography,history and nature.The story spans a century and makes people think about time and eternity.The present report includes four sections.The first part is the project description,including the author’s introduction and the content introduction,the second part is the source text analysis,including the style characteristic and linguistic features,the third part is the case analysis,under the guidance of the domestication and foreignization theory,the translation case is analyzed.Finally,the translator summarizes the problems and the experience gained in the process of translation.The relevant experience summarized in this translation report has a certain reference to literary translation.The original text contains many long difficult sentences,culture-loaded words and poems.The translator adopts the method of four-character translation,retention of foreign words,word order adjustment and voice conversion by analyzing the text and consulting the relevant materials in order to retain both the original language features and keep in line with the Chinese habits.The book received extensive attention before it was published,but it has not been published in China so that it is not able to spread in China.The original intention of the translator is to improve the translation level,at the same time,better understand the excellent writers and works,introduce the foreign excellent English texts to the domestic readers and promote the cultural exchange and the emotional resonance. |
