Social Reproduction And Female Liberation

Beginning in the 1960 s and 1970 s,with the tremendous changes in Western capitalist society,the equality and freedom thoughts of Western modern enlightenment thoughts and the changes in women’s social status before and after World War II prompted the consciousness of every woman as a free individual,this has urged women to pay attention to their position in society and the women’s liberation movement that promotes women’s struggle for social rights,the road to women’s liberation has gradually become more prominent.The second women’s liberation movement gave birth to western Marxist feminism,Marxist feminists draw nutrition from Marxist theory,draw lessons from the basic ideas of Marxism to construct their own theory,Lise Vogel is one of the typical representative figures.Based on the social and historical background of the times,the female thought of Marxism and the theoretical background of the discussion on the female problem of contemporary socialist feminism,Vogel critically examined the female problem in the classical literature of Marxism and found that the contents of the classical literature were not enough.On the basis of inheriting and developing Marxist thought,Vogel provides a theoretical framework suitable for the elaboration of female oppression and female liberation from the perspective of social reproduction,that is,the theory of social reproduction with labor force as the core,and uses this theory to reveal the material basis of female oppression in class society and the dual particularity of female oppression in capitalist society,and then put forward the path of female liberation,that is,only by reforming the unreasonable mode of production and carrying out socialist reform,can we complete the real emancipation of women.Vogel’s Marxist feminist thought further enriches and develops Marxist thought,expands the field of traditional feminism’s analysis of women’s oppression,and expands the breadth and depth of feminism’s criticism of capitalist system.Of course,Vogel’s research perspective and the limitations of the real society make Vogel’s Marxist feminist thought have limitations,so we should dialectically view Vogel’s thought.
