Comments On Fu Lei’s Literary Criticism

Fu Lei(1908-1966)is recognized as a literary translator and educator,but his status as a literary critic is little known.In fact,Fu Lei has made a lot of literary criticism because of his rich experience in art appreciation and keen artistic sensibility.This paper studies Fu Lei from the cultural identity of "literary critic".First of all,explore the reasons for the formation of Fu Lei’s literary criticism.From Fu Lei’s personal experience and Chinese and Western cultural context,this paper analyzes the subjective and objective reasons for the formation of Fu Lei’s literary criticism thought,and analyzes the basic conditions for the formation of Fu Lei’s literary criticism thought.Secondly,it analyzes the theoretical characteristics of Fu Lei’s literary criticism.Combing the main concepts of his literary criticism from the aspects of emotion and reason,aesthetics and utility,whole and part,content and form.Thirdly,it studies Fu Lei’s practice in literary criticism in different categories.That is,the art criticism of "painting as its own person",the realistic literary criticism and the music criticism of the fusion of Chinese and Western.Finally,it evaluates Fu Lei’s literary criticism.Fu Lei’s literary criticism affirms the value of artistic subject,advocates the unity of personality and style,and points out the direction for the creative practice of artistic subject.Fu Lei’s critical spirit has enlightening effect on contemporary literary criticism.His literary criticism also has certain limitations,which should be evaluated comprehensively and objectively.On the basis of studying Fu Lei’s monographs,letters and articles,this paper combs,summarizes and evaluates his literary criticism.From the perspective of the blending of Chinese and Western cultures and the influence of historical context,this paper explores the unique charm and value significance of Fu Lei’s literary criticism.
