Reading is very important in people’s life and study.English reading teaching is currently one of the important tools used by high school teachers in English teaching.It is one of the important means to effectively improve students’ English performance.English reading teaching has thus become a teaching method that educators must master.However,students’ interest in English reading is generally low,which requires teachers to constantly explore new methods to stimulate students’ interest in reading.The mind map is a graphic that can make students think.It effectively expresses the logic and framework in the English reading text in a visual form.This research analyzes the formation process and principle of mind map from multiple angles,and infiltrates it into classroom teaching activities,making it an important thrust to improve students’ learning ability.The experiment carried out in this study started on September 2,2019 and ended on November 23.The time used for this activity was about 3 months.The author asked students in two parallel classes of Huangzhou No.1 Middle School.This research integrates mind mapping and English reading teaching.English teaching research are carried out in the experimental class.The control class is still taught in the previous English reading teaching mode.There are three methods used in this study to collect data for writing papers:the first is experimental method;the second is questionnaire survey method;the third is interview method.This research uses these three methods of analyzing the results obtained by classes that use mind maps for teaching.Before the experiment,the author conducted an English reading test on the students in the experimental class and the control class,and used questionnaires to investigate the reading status of the students.After the experiment,the author conducted a reading test and questionnaire survey on the students again,conducted personal interviews with some students in the experimental class,and used SPSS software to analyze the collected data.Practice has shown that the application of mind maps to teaching classrooms can make English reading teaching more effective.This provides some data support for the application of mind map as a teaching aid to the study of English reading teaching.Of course,this study also has some shortcomings:the sample size of the experiment is relatively small,the experiment time is short,and its applicability and representativeness remain to be verified.The purpose of this research is to explore new ways to improve the effectiveness of English reading teaching through the use of mind maps in practice,and to make the new teaching methods more effective.
