Michel Foucault(1926-1984)is a famous French philosopher and social thinker in the 20th century. He was the most influential representative of French genealogy Marxism, and was once known as "the most important French thinker after Sartre".Foucault’s works are widely studied, and there are many key words involved, such as power, knowledge archaeology, discipline, imprisonment, genealogy, etc. For a long time, the academic research focus on Foucault in these areas. There are some researches on "self",but most of them are self practice in Foucault’s "survival aesthetics".In fact,Foucault’s "self" view is a main line of his whole thought system. In the early stage, the self is deconstructed and the self is reconstructed in the later stage. So it can be said that when studying Foucault’s theory,he should not ignore his self thought. Therefore, this paper makes a study on Foucault’s "self" view of French genealogy Marxist.First, the author discusses Foucault’s thought origin of "self".Foucault was deeply influenced by famous thinkers such as Sartre,Heidegger,Marx and Nietzsche, and determined the theme of his life-long study.Furthermore, the methodology of archeology and genealogy used by Foucault in Deconstruction of self is discussed.Foucault, using his own unique methodology, has completed his criticism of modernity "self",and concludes that "self is the conclusion of construction.Secondly, the technology of Foucault’s self construction is studied.Combing the evolution of Foucault’s thought,we can find that"self" has gone through the process of deconstruction to construction.Foucault paid attention to modern times in the early days, focusing on knowledge and power, and Deconstruction of "self";in the late period,he focused on the ancient and Middle Ages, focused on the ethical field, and focused on the "self" technology with "self" as the core.Although the early and late period has changed, the theme of his exploration has not changed. The combination of the early and late period thoughts is the perfect embodiment of Foucault’s "self" view. Finally,Foucault’s "self" view is briefly evaluated. His "self"view has both positive aspects, such as enriching the western "self" view, and expanding the depth of domestic scholars’ study of western "self".But there are also negative aspects, namely, the contradiction and dilemma caused by the complete denial of the subjectivity of "self".Therefore,we should dialectically treat Foucault’s "self" view in the practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics. In general,Foucault’s "self" view is more positive, which has a special modern significance. |
